Murray River
The largest river in Australia is the Murray River which has on occassion been referred to as the River Murray or the Mighty Murray. How long is the Murray River, you ask? Well, coming in at 2,575 kilometres in length, the Murray River is quite long. The Murray rises in the Australian Alps draining the western side of Australia’s highest mountains and, for the majority of its length, winds across Australia’s inland plains. The Murray River forms the border between Victoria and New South Wales. It also flows into South Australia for about 500 kilometres before it ends at Lake Alexandrina.

Boating on the Murray River is a tremendously popular activity, with many private boat owners as well as charter companies offering Murray River houseboat tours and fishing trips. Depending on the season, paddle steamers are also a quaint site to see.
